Men’s Basketball Fights to the Final Buzzer Against San Bernardino in 79-81 Loss

SAN BERNARDINO, CALIF.- Sonoma State put on a highly efficient shooting performance but fell just short in a hard-fought 81-79 loss to Cal State San Bernardino. The Seawolves shot an impressive 28-of-51 (54.9%) from the field and were lights-out from three, hitting 8-of-18 attempts (44.4%). They also pulled down 30 rebounds and only committed 11 total fouls highlighting the team's defensive discipline and rotations.

Julian Bryant made his presence felt on both ends of the floor with a well-rounded performance. He finished with 11 points while stuffing the stat sheet with 4 steals, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, showcasing his ability to impact the game beyond scoring.

Aaron Ragen delivered a flawless shooting night, going a perfect 7-of-7 from the field, including an even more impressive 6-of-6 from beyond the arc. His 21-point outing was a major spark for Sonoma State's offense. Ragen is the conference's top weapon from deep having pushed his season long percentage from three up to an eye popping 50%. In conference play that percentage is now at 53.8% having hit multiple threes in 13 games.

Leading the team was point guard Chris Holley, who orchestrated the offense with 19 points and a game-high 8 assists. His ability to distribute the ball and attack the rim kept the Seawolves in contention down the stretch. Holley owns the top field goal percentage in the CCAA in conference play, he owns the top mark for total assists and has the best turnover to assist ratio. In other words, there is a legitimate argument to be had that he is the premier guard in the CCAA.

Despite their sharp shooting, Sonoma State was edged out by San Bernardino's strong second-half effort. The Seawolves will look to bounce back on February 17th when they travel to face the San Marcos Cougars in another key CCAA matchup.
