Sonoma State Powers Past San Bernardino with Offensive Explosion

SAN BERNARDINO, CALIF.- The Sonoma State Seawolves showcased their offensive firepower in a thrilling 8-7 victory over CSU San Bernardino on Friday afternoon. A relentless attack at the plate, featuring 13 hits and four home runs, propelled the Seawolves to a much-needed conference win.

Game 1: SSU 8, CSUSB 7
Jasmine Moreno led the charge with a two-home run performance, driving in four runs to set the tone for Sonoma State's offense. Lauren Mirtoni and Sophia Newcomb each added solo shots of their own, helping the Seawolves maintain pressure on the Coyotes throughout the game. Amari Johnson has remained on fire at the plate kicking off the series with another three hits, two stolen bases and a pair of RBIs.

Despite a back-and-forth battle, Sonoma State's ace Charlie Johnson delivered another strong outing in the circle. Johnson pitched a complete game, striking out three while allowing just two earned runs across nine innings. She remained poised under pressure, forcing four double plays to keep San Bernardino from ever truly hitting their stride.

The Seawolves struck early with a three-run second inning, highlighted by Moreno's first home run of the game. After a brief scoring lull, Sonoma State added two runs in the seventh before tacking on three crucial insurance runs in the ninth, proving to be the difference in the back and forth battle.

Game 2: SSU 5, CSUSB 1

Sonoma State continued their strong play with a 5-1 victory over CSU San Bernardino, powered by Amari Houston's explosive performance at the plate and the steady presence of freshman pitchers Ava Paquin and Alexis Camberos.

Houston was unstoppable, going 2-for-4 with two home runs and two RBIs, igniting the Seawolves' offense early. Carissa Marquez also made a significant impact, delivering two hits and driving in a key run to extend Sonoma State's lead.

Paquin and Camberos, the freshman pitching duo, combined for a dominant performance in the circle. Paquin started the game and tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just four hits while striking out two. Camberos entered in relief and sealed the win, pitching two innings and allowing just one run on two hits while striking out one.

Sonoma State jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first inning, with Houston's first home run setting the tone. The Seawolves added an insurance run in the fifth before locking down the game defensively.
