Harrison's Walk-Off Lifts Sonoma State Over Chico State in Extras

ROHNERT PARK, CALIF. – Sonoma State pulled off a thrilling 2-1 extra-inning victory over Chico State on Friday, powered by standout performances from both the pitching staff and the offense. The Wildcats are currently sitting at fifth in the NCAA Division II West Region and have been receiving votes towards a top 25 ranking. It was a back and forth affair highlighting the Seawolves continued resilience as they have been one of the grittiest teams in the CCAA.

Blake Janowicz set the tone early with a stellar start on the mound, holding Chico State to just one run over 8.2 innings of solid pitching. He worked efficiently, keeping hitters off balance and limiting the Wildcats' scoring opportunities. Janowicz faced 33 batters while forcing 20 of them into either groundouts or flayouts. Janowicz has been outstanding in forcing batters into tough at bats.

Colton Wuelfing took over in the later innings and secured the win with clutch pitching in the extra frames, keeping the game tied before Sonoma State's offense came through in the 10th inning. Wuelfing did not allow a single hit to keep the Wildcats off the scoreboard.

At the plate, Joey Replogle put together an efficient day, collecting three hits and consistently putting pressure on Chico State's defense. When Replogle gets rolling he is capable of getting the offense going on his own. With his three singles, the Seawolves starting first baseman has now put together four games this season with multiple hits.

The biggest moment of the game came off the bat of Aryonis Harrison, who delivered a walk-off hit in the 10th inning to seal the win for the Seawolves. The center fielder's double would drive in Chris Ortiz giving his team a clutch win against a highly touted opponent.  Harrison was a force at the plate throughout the game, capping off his strong performance with the game-winning swing. Harrison has been on fire over his last two games collecting six hits, three RBIs and two stolen bases. Just for good measure he has bumped his season long batting average up to .340.

With the victory, Sonoma State will look to keep the ball rolling against their northern California rivals as the two teams gear up for a double-header showdown tomorrow with game one set for an 11:00 AM start time.
