Sonoma State's Offense Shines in 10-7 Victory Over Stanislaus State

TURLOCK, Calif. — Behind a powerful offensive display and clutch bullpen work, Sonoma State surged past Stanislaus State 10-7 on Friday night at Warrior Baseball Field. The Seawolves collected 16 hits and plated runs in six different innings to earn the first win of the CCAA series.

The offensive outburst was anchored by standout performances from Max Shabestari and Brandon Marion, who each drove in three runs. Shabestari finished 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and a sacrifice fly, while Marion went 3-for-5 and came through with a pair of critical two-out RBIs that helped shift momentum back to the visitors after a wild seven-run inning by Stanislaus in the fourth.

After scoring twice in the second inning, the Seawolves responded emphatically to the Warriors' big fourth with a three-run sixth and added insurance with runs in each of the final three frames. Bryson McArn added a pair of doubles and an RBI, while Aryonis Harrison and Garret Barto chipped in two hits apiece.

On the mound, relievers Herman Luna and Hawk Hill slammed the door shut on the Warriors. Luna entered in the fourth and delivered 4.2 shutout innings, scattering five hits while striking out four and earning the win. Hill then took over in the ninth, retiring the side in order with one strikeout to notch his second save of the season.

The Seawolves' timely hitting and steady bullpen work proved the difference, as they held off the Warriors despite a 12-hit night from Stanislaus State. Sonoma State looks to carry the momentum into the weekend series with continued offensive production and shutdown relief.
