TURLOCK, CALIF.- Sonoma State Baseball had arguably their most explosive offensive performance of the year thanks to a 14 run showing against the Stanislaus State Warriors. The Seawolves collected 14 runs, 17 hits and drew five walks at the plate. On top of their offensive outing Sonoma's pitching allowed only a single run while striking out eight batters and only conceding eight hits.
Offensively Sonoma State had five players record multiple hits with Chris Ortiz leading the way. Ortiz recorded three hits which resulted in a pair of RBIs. The veteran catcher also drew a walk getting on base each of his four at-bats.
The trio of Brandon Marion, Tyler Crudo and Eli Hancock would combine for six hits and four RBI's on the day. Marion has come alive of late finishing the series with five hits, four RBIs and three walks. Lastly, Garret Barto and Jaden Pickowitz each contributed three RBIs with Pickowitz launching a three run home run while Barto's double in the seventh drove in more runs as well.
On the mound the trio of Noah Souza, Luke Ivanoff and Riley Phelan each struck out two batters and only relinquished eight total hits. They would also combine for 20 combined ground outs or fly outs.
It was a phenomenal, all around effort by the Seawolves who made sure to submit a complete game on defense, on the mound and at the plate. For the series the Seawolves scored 36 runs and will look to build upon this strong momentum with their final home series on deck.
