Coming into today's meet the Seawolves have secured multiple team victories including winning the Seawolf Invite which was held at the same course as today's championship. LINCOLN, NEB.- Sonoma State Cross Country made the trip to Lincoln, Nebraska to compete in the Greeno/Dirksen Invitational early this morning. Against a field that featured runners from over 35 programs, the young Seawolves more than held their own. Thanks to a well rounded team effort coach David Lawerence's squad took seventh place out of the 22 teams that entered at least five runners. Among NCAA Division II programs, Sonoma finished second behind only 18th ranked Nebraska-Kearney. They also outperformed multiple NCAA Division I teams including Air Force, University of Nebraska Omaha and Creighton University. ROHNERT PARK, CALIF. - On Tuesday, March 19th, the annual CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll was announced with 29 Sonoma State student-athletes named to the academic honor roll. The CCAA recognizes individuals academically per season – fall, winter and spring – for all CCAA sponsored sports. The Fresno native won three races this season including a record breaking performance at the conference championships. ROHNERT PARK, CALIF. - The Sonoma State cross country team is preparing to head north for the second time this season and compete in the 2023 NCAA West Regional hosted by Western Oregon. The Seawolves are coming off of a historic performance at the conference championships highlighted by sophomore Gianna Bomarito who won the women's 6k and was named the CCAA Runner of the Year. Bomarito shattered the program and conference championship record with a time of 20:28.3. First year runner Liliana Salado was the team's next best finisher with a time of 23:03.5, good for a personal best.
