Kaelene Curry is back for her third season as the assistant softball coach at Sonoma State in 2017.

Prior coming to SSU, Curry played four years at the University of Missouri-Kansas City until she graduated in 2012, then spent the last two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Northern Colorado while earning her Master's Degree in sports psychology at the University of Denver.

A native of Downers Grove, Ill., Curry led the Kangaroos during her senior campaign in 2012 in batting (.330), at-bats (188), runs (33), hits (62), and on-base percentage (.407).  As a junior in 2011, she was named the Summit League's Player of the Year after leading the NCAA Division I conference in hits (65) and runs scored (45), a single-season program record in both categories.

In four seasons as a Kangaroo from 2009-12, Curry became the UMKC's all-time leader in hits (223) and runs (142), while finishing second in on-base percentage (.435), walks (70), and stolen bases (52) along with being third in batting (.350). 

For her efforts in the classroom at UMKC, Curry was twice named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Capital One Academic All-America and All-District teams holding GPA's of 3.98 as a junior in 2011 and 3.93 as a senior in 2012.  She earned a spot on the Summit League Winter/Spring Academic All-League Team three times and was a four-time UMKC Scholar Athlete Award and Distinguished Scholar on the Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence honoree.  In addition, she was a four-time recipient of the prestigious National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar Athlete honor.
