Shannon Percell

Shannon Percell

Shannon Percell is in her fifth full year as the Associate Athletics Director in 2017-18.  She also served three full months from November 2017 to January 2018 as the Interim Athletic Director while the University conducted a national search for a permanent AD following the retirement of Bill Fusco, who held the position since 1998.

Percell started in December of 2012 as the Business Operations Specialist after spending four seasons as the assistant coach for the Sonoma State women's soccer team.  Shannon was also named the department's Senior Women's Administrator in February of 2014.

A 2001 graduate of the University of Montana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a student-athlete on the women's soccer team, Shannon helped the Grizzlies to three Big Sky Championships (1997, 1999 and 2000) in her four-year career, including two appearances in the NCAA Tournament. As a freshman, she earned a spot on the Soccer Buzz All-Freshman West Region team and was named to the Freshman All-America Third Team. Not to mention, Shannon earned Big Sky All-Conference first team recognition all four years. Her teammates voted her as the team's Most Valuable Player as a sophomore, junior and as a senior and was also named to the NSCAA All-West Team in 1999 and 2000.

Following her fantastic collegiate career, Shannon moved on to play semi-professional soccer with the Seattle Sounders and the Boston Renegades. A team captain with the Sounders from 2003-05, she helped the team to an appearance in the W-League Final Four (2003) and a quarterfinalist in 2004 while being named to the All-Western Conference team in 2003 and 2005. In 2002 with the Renegades, Shannon helped Boston to a W-League National Championship.

On the coaching front, in addition to four seasons as an assistant coach for the SSU women's soccer team between 2008 and 2011, Shannon led Sonoma Academy to the North Coast Section Championship in 2007 and 2008.

After finishing her soccer-playing career, Shannon received her Master's Degree in Sport Administration and Leadership from Seattle University (Wash.) in 2009.

A native of Tacoma, Wash., Shannon, a Seahawks fan (or also known as "The 12th Man"), lives in Santa Rosa with her husband, Shawn, a 49ers fan, who also works in the SSU athletics department as the Business Operations Manager, and they have three children.
