When looking back at the career of Creedence Perkins, two words immediately spring to mind: consistency and dominance.  A four-year star for the Sonoma State men's basketball team, Perkins is second all-time in scoring and rebounding.  A superb all-around player, Perkins also ranks in the top ten in asists, steals, and blocks.

From 1987-91, Creedence Perkins put his stamp on the SSU Basketball program by scoring 1,518 points and pulling down 767 rebounds.  For a little perspective, the third highest totals in those categories are 291 points and 217 rebounds behind.

Perkins' finest season may have been his junior year, when he averaged 19.2 points and 8.2 rebounds, helping lead SSU to a 17-11 mark.  That year, Perkins and Todd Blakely combined to score almost 45 points a night.  Only J.T. Tipton has come close to twenty points per game since.  Ironically, Perkins was never his team's leading scorer.  It was his consistency over the years that elevated him to greatness.

Creedence was named All-NCAC Honorable Mention in 1988-89 and Second Team All-NCAC in 1989-90 and 1990-91.  Yet his honors only tell some of the story.  That Creedence Perkins is still near the top of many career statistical lists years later tells more about the legacy left behind the Sonoma State great.
