MT. PLEASANT, Mich-  For his part in leading the 2008 Sonoma State baseball team to the first west region championship in school history, head coach John Goelz has been named the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Diamond Sports Co. NCAA Division II West Region Coach of the Year.  Goelz's Seawolves also won their second straight CCAA title in '08 and finished third in the D-II "World Series".

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  With the 2008-09 season just over a month away, now is a good time to look back on the success that met each and every Seawolf team last year.  The Seawolves won two CCAA championships, three west region championships, and enjoyed high national rankings in what turned out to be one of the best all-around campaigns in school history.

LOS ANGELES, Calif-  Five members of the Sonoma State women's water polo team were named All-Academic by the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) earlier this week.  Holly Armijo, Andrea Brookbank, Brooke Smith, Kiane Taparra, and Lauran Zambruski were honored for their work in the classroom.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Sonoma State senior David Adler has been named a First Team All-American by the Jewish Sports Review.  Adler, named the national defensive player of the year last month, helped lead the Seawolves to a third place finish at the NCAA Division II Championships in Sauget, Illinois.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-   The Sonoma State men’s basketball team has announced the signing of eight players set to join the Seawolves for the 2008-09 season.  "We are extremely excited about this years recruiting class," said associate head coach Rich Shayewitz.  "We worked hard at identifying our needs and feel that we did a great job in filling them."

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Senior pitcher Nick O'Brien became the fifth player on this year's west region champion Sonoma State baseball team to sign a professional contract this week when he inked with the Joliet Jackhammers of the independent Northern League.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Sonoma State southpaw Matt Means was selected by the San Diego Padres on Friday in the 37th round of the Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft.  He is the fourth Sonoma State player to hear his name called in the draft.
