STANFORD, Calif-
Steven Pratt scored a team-high 13 points and Sonoma State shot 51 percent from the field but Stanford University had five players in double-figures, helping to defeat Sonoma State 82-61 in exhibition men's basketball action on Friday night at Maples Pavilion.
Despite making more than half of its shots (21 of 41), Sonoma State surrendered 32 made field goals and suffered a disadvantage in rebounds as the Cardinal controlled the glass, 43-22.
The Seawolves gave the Cardinal quite a run through the first half of play, down just five points at 30-25 with 5:18 remaining before halftime but five straight buckets in a two minute span put Stanford ahead by 18 and they finished the opening period on a 17-5 run for the 47-30 lead at the intermission.
In the second half, Stanford jumped out to a 35 point lead half way through the second half, ultimately putting the game out of the Seawolves' reach.

Brenton Thomas came off the bench to grab a team-high four rebounds.
For Stanford, Landry Fields had a game-high 15 points and Andrew Zimmermann added a double-double of 13 points and 10 boards. Emmanuel Igbinosa (11), Jarrett Mann (11) and Jack Trotter (10) all came off the bench to score in double-figures for the Cardinal.
Sonoma State will wrap up its two-game exhibition schedule on Saturday in a 3 p.m. tipoff with UC Santa Barbara. The Seawolves will then kick off the 2009 regular season on Nov. 20 against Hawaii Pacific in the Ron Logsdon Basketball Classic at Rohnert Park.
