ROHNERT PARK, Calif- It was announced on Wednesday that Sonoma State's
Gary Moran has been named the 2009 Daktronics West Region Pitcher of the Year. Moran earned the nod a week after he was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Pitcher of the Year.
Ian Bridges and
Taylor Lewis also garnered Daktronics All-West Region honors.
Moran is currently ranked third in the nation with a 1.26 ERA, a mark that ranks first in school history among starting pitchers. At 7-2 on the season, the tall right-hander also sports an impressive 66-to-9 strikeout-to-walk ratio. In his career at Sonoma State, Moran is currently fifth in school history in wins (15), second in ERA (2.25), and fifth in strikeouts (153).
Ian Bridges earned a First Team nod at catcher after a season that has seen him hit .338 with four home runs and 24 runs batted in. The 2008 CCAA Most Valuable Player, Bridges is currently tenth in school history in batting average (.355), sixth in hits (159), and seventh in RBIs (72).
Senior relief pitcher
Taylor Lewis earns his first All-West Region selection. A native of Hanford, Lewis is 6-2 on the season with a 2.34 ERA in a team-high 19 appearances. He also has four saves and has walked just four batters in 34.2 innings of work.
