Men's Golf Finishes Seventh At NCAA Preview

Patrick Bauer shot an even par 72 in rough conditions on Tuesday.
NOBLESVILLE, Ind.-  Sonoma State improved their team score by eight strokes on Tuesday afternoon, but it wasn't enough to keep them from sliding to a seventh place finish at the NCAA Division II Preview Tournament at Sagamore Golf Club in Noblesville, Indiana.  Junior Patrick Bauer turned in the best round of the event for the fourth-ranked Seawolves, with an even par 72 on Tuesday to move all the way up to ninth place overall.

Bauer's 82-72--154 in rough weather conditions put him just six strokes behind the individual medalist, Riley Piles of Washburn.

Jeremy Wendelken was the Seawolves' second finisher, in 32nd, after shooting 79-80--159.  Wendelken was followed by Janssen Todd (79-82--161) in 42nd, Tyler Schmuckle (87-78--165) in 53rd and Keith Rodriguez (80-85--165) in 53rd as well.

The Seawolves finished the tournament in a tie for seventh place with Grand Valley State.  The champion, Central Missouri shot a 610 to edge Bellarmine University by an impressive 12 strokes.  Sonoma State was 22 strokes back at 632.

The defending national champion Seawolves return will continue their fall season on October 12th at the InterWest Chico Classic.
