GLENDALE, Ariz- After rain delayed the season's start an extra couple of weeks, the Sonoma State men's tennis team finally got their 2010 regular season underway on Thursday with an 8-1 defeat of Grand Canyon at the Paseo Racquet Center in Glendale. The Seawolves won all six singles matches to improve to 1-0 on the young season.
After a long day of travel, the Seawolves got going with victories in two of the three doubles matches.
Connor Olson and
Taylor Bianco won 8-4 at No. 1 and
Aaron Hamilton and
Anthony Rollins were victorious at No. 2, 8-6.
The Sewaolves were dominant in singles play with just two matches needing to go to a tiebreaker. Olson, fresh off his ITA Regional Championship in the fall, won at No. 1, 6-4, 6-2. Other victories came from Hamilton (No. 2), Bianco (No. 3),
Quan Vu (No. 4),
Scott Gaynor (No. 5), and
Drexler Dy (No. 6).
The Seawolves return to the courts tomorrow to take on Western New Mexico. They are kicking off a five-day stretch that will see them take on five different NCAA Division II schools.
