Samantha Lipperd has been named the Worth/California Collegiate Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week. It was announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
The 5-8 freshman from Boulder Creek went 2-0 in two starts against Notre Dame de Namur, sporting a 0.00 ERA in nine innings of work. On Wednesday, she became the first Sonoma State softball player since 2001 to throw a no-hitter after going the distance in a 9-0 victory over the Argonauts. She struckout four of the 19 batters she faced.
On Sunday, Lipperd followed up her no-hit performance with four strong innings, scattering just two hits en route to a 11-1 win over NDNU.
In three starts this season, Lipperd is 3-0 with a 1.50 ERA in 14 innings, giving up four runs and eight hits while striking out nine.
Sonoma State will travel to Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday to open up conference play with the Toros. First pitch Friday is set for 11 a.m.
