Bauer Drives Seawolves To Fifth Place Finish

BAKERSFIELD, Calif-  Led by a final round 69 by junior Patrick Bauer, the Sonoma State men's golf team jumped to fifth place on Tuesday at the CSUB Elco Invitational at Seven Oaks Country Club in Bakersfield.  Bauer's strong finish propelled him to a second place finish among individuals. 

Entering Tuesday's play in a tie for seventh, the Seawolves turned in their best round of the spring, a 295, to move past Bakersfield College, Northeastern State, and Claremont Mudd Scripps.

Bauer finished the tournament at 71-74-69--214, in a tie for second with Jonathan Cockerill of Cal State Stanislaus (71-67-76--214).  Kyle Morrison of Cal State Bakersfield was the individual medalist after shooting 69-69-71--209.

The Seawolves got another top ten finish from Ryan Carter, who placed seventh with a 70-74-74--218.  Jeremy Wendelken (76-76-76--228), Cole Pickavance (85-73-76--234), and Keith Rodriguez (82-83-78--243) rounded out the Seawolves' card.

Sonoma State is back in action on March 1st at the CSUSB Coyotes Invitational in San Bernardino.

KINGSTON, Wash-  Sonoma State's Jeremy Wendelken fired a final round of 2-under par 70 to capture the 84th Washington State Golf Association Men's Amateur Championship, held last week at White Horse Golf Club in Kingston, Washington.  Wendelken finished the championship at 2-under 286 overall and was the only player in the field to break par.

NORMAN, Okla-  A week after finishing fourth at the NCAA Division II Championship, three members of the Sonoma State men's golf team have been named to the GCAA/PING Division II All-America team.  Junior Patrick Bauer was recognized as a Third Team selection while sophomores Janssen Todd and Jeremy Wendelken were presented with Honorable Mention honors.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Following a fourth place finish in the 2010 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships, Patrick Bauer and Janssen Todd were named to the NCAA Division II PING All-West Region team, it was announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) last week.

NOBLESVILLE, Ind- Despite fighting strong winds for much of the day, the Sonoma State men's golf team held its own, firing a 309 in Friday's final round to finish fourth at the 2010 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships, held at Sagamore Golf Club in Noblesville, Ind. The Seawolves, who came into the tournament as the defending national champions, finished just 10 strokes behind this year's champion, Florida Southern.

NOBLESVILLE, Ind- Almost completely identical to last season when Sonoma State won the national championship, the Seawolves will head into Friday's final round of the 2010 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships in third place, just nine strokes back of the leader, Chico State.
