Women's Tennis Cruises Past Dominican, 9-0

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Jessica Harris stretched her undefeated singles streak to seven matches and Sonoma State got back into the win column on Wednesday afternoon, cruising to a 9-0 sweep of Dominican University of California at the SSU Tennis Courts. The win sends the Seawolves to 7-5 this season. The Penguins fall to 2-6.

Stephanie Luk and Molly Maguire improved to 6-5 as partners this season at the No. 1 position in double, with an 8-2 decision over Stephanie Lemp and Michele Freitas. The duos of Haley Hickock/Harris and Stephanie Hoffmire/Geri Richards rolled to 8-0 victories to sweep the doubles portion of the match.

Both Harris (10-2) and Richards (1-0) claimed singles victories in straight sets (6-0, 6-0), clinching the match for Sonoma State. Luk started off slow against Dominican's Lemp, but after winning a narrow first set, Luk pulled through and dispatched Lemp for her seventh singles victory this season. Hickock (6-0, 6-2), Maguire (6-2, 6-4) and Hoffmire (6-2, 6-2) completed the sweep with their victories on Wednesday.

Sonoma State, ranked 45th in the nation, will host Southern Oregon on Friday at the SSU Tennis Courts at 11 a.m. The Seawolves will then hit the road for a match with San Jose State on Mar. 23 before returning home for four straight matches.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- After completing the 2010 season with a 16-4 record in dual matches, Jessica Harris was named to the All-California Collegiate Athletic Association First Team at the No. 6 singles position and Stephanie Hoffmire and Jeanette Peck were named to the All-CCAA First Team at the No. 3 doubles spot. It was announced by the conference office Wednesday.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Jeanette Peck and Stephanie Hoffmire earned a doubles victory and Molly Maguire added a win at the No. 5 singles position, but it would be the only wins that Sonoma State would be able to muster up in a 7-2 loss to 19th-ranked Cal State Stanislaus in the Seawolves' season finale on Tuesday afternoon at the SSU Tennis Courts.

KONA, Hawaii-  With a 7-2 victory over Hawaii-Hilo on Thursday, the Sonoma State women's tennis team concluded their Hawaiian vacation with a 2-0 record, improving to 10-9 on the season in the process.  They will close the season out next week against Cal State Stanislaus in a makeup match.

HONOLULU, Hawaii-  Sonoma State recovered from a 2-1 deficit after doubles to defeat Chaminade on Wednesday afternoon, 5-4 in Honolulu.  The win evens out the Seawolves' record at 9-9 on the season.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Jeanette Peck and Stephanie Hoffmire scored an 8-6 victory in doubles play and Hoffmire picked up another victory at the No. 5 singles position, but visiting Cal Poly Pomona defeated Sonoma State, 6-3, in California Collegiate Athletic Association women's tennis action on Saturday afternoon at the SSU Tennis Courts. The loss drops the Seawolves to 8-9 overall and 3-6 in conference play. The Broncos rise to 11-5 (4-3 CCAA).

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  The Sonoma State women's team came up one point short on Saturday in a 5-4 loss to Weber State in Rohnert Park.  The Seawolves won two of three doubles matches, but lost four of six in singles competition to fall to 8-8 on the season.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Six weeks after coming up with a big 6-3 road win over Cal State L.A., the Sonoma State women's tennis team had the tables turned as the Golden Eagles emerged with a 6-3 win on Friday in Rohnert Park.  The 45th-ranked Seawolves fall to 8-7, 3-5 CCAA while the Golden Eagles improve to 7-6, 2-3 CCAA.
