Olson Nabs Singles Win; Seawolves Fall at USF

Connor Olson had the only victory for Sonoma State on Sunday.
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif- Connor Olson grabbed a narrow 7-6 (2) victory in the first set and cruised to a 6-0 second set victory, claiming the only win in the match as Sonoma State fell 6-1 to the University of San Francisco on Sunday afternoon at the California Tennis Club. The Seawolves fall to 5-6 this season and the Dons improve to 10-3.

Olson, ranked 40th in the nation, defeated Einar Hart for the only Seawolf victory on Sunday. He teamed up with Taylor Bianco at No. 1 doubles, but fell 8-2. Aaron Hamilton and Anthony Rollins gave Richard Bucalem and William Schumacher a good run at No. 2, however USF pulled out the 8-4 win.

Bianco battled with Bucalem at the No. 2 singles position, sending the match into three sets after winning the second, ultimately falling in the third (6-1, 4-6, 6-3).

Sonoma State will travel to Pomona for three crucial in-region matches against Western New Mexico (Friday), Pomona-Pitzer (Saturday) and Cal Poly Pomona (Sunday).
