OJAI, Calif- Connor Olson and Taylor Bianco defeated Grand Canyon's Patrice Giraldi and Szymon Gas, 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the quarterfinals in the Men's Independent Doubles Division on Friday at the 110th Annual Ojai Valley Tournament in Ojai. With the victory, Olson and Bianco will take on Azusa Pacific's Matthjis Bolsius and Jochern Hoefnagels at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Olson also grabbed a victory in the Men's Independent Singles Division on Friday in the Round of 32, defeating Biola's David Mossman, 6-3, 6-4. However, in the Round of 16, Olson fell to Westmont's Tiago Hayashi in a hard-fought match, 7-5, 7-6 (4-0), 6-1.

Bianco also competed in the singles event, but dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision to Andrey Potapkin of Concordia. Quan Vu also appeared in not only the doubles division, but also the singles decision. However, he lost to Derek Fefek of Fresno Pacific 6-1, 6-2.

Vu and doubles partner Andrew Khuri-Yakub were defeated in the doubles Round of 16 by the duo of Maxime Adam and Martin Vaisse 6-4, 6-3.
