MESA, Ariz- The Sonoma State women's golf team had a promising start to their first ever national championship tournament appearance, finishing Wednesday's round in fourth place with a cumulative total of 313. The Seawolves sit 15 strokes behind the leader, defending national champion and top-ranked Nova Southeastern.
The Seawolves are seven strokes behind Rollins College and just two back of Tarleton State, following their +29 performance on Wednesday.
As she has for much of the spring season, freshman
Spencer Heller is leading the way, in 15th place with a five-over 77.
Chelsa Helget is right behind Heller in 18th at 78.
Brittany Carrera (27th, 78),
Tess Russell (27th, 79, and
Tara Mortimeyer (56th, 84), make up the rest of the Seawolves' card.
Day two of the four day event gets underway on Thursday with the first tee times set for 7:30 am.
