Heller Moves Up To 7th, Seawolves 5th After Three

Spencer Heller is eyeing a top ten finish at the NCAA Championships.
MESA, Ariz-  Freshman Spencer Heller posted a 73 on Friday to move up to seventh place overall at the NCAA Championship Tournament at Longbow Golf Course in Mesa, Arizona.  As a team, the Seawolves slipped one spot, to fifth, but they remain within striking distance of second place.

The Seawolves turned in a 305 as a team for the second straight day, giving them a three-day running total of 313-305-305--923.  With one round remaining, the Seawolves still have time to make a run at second place Rollins (914), Florida Southern (922), and Tarleton State (922), who are in a tie for third, just one stroke ahead of the Seawolves.

Heller's 73 shot her from 11th place to 7th in the individual standings.  The Turlock native has shot 77-76-73--226 for the tournament.

Heller had three teammates join her under 80.  Brittany Carrera stayed consistent, moving up to 16th at 79-76-77--232.  Chelsa Helget is 33rd at 78-79-79--237, Tara Mortimeyer is 36th at 84-77-76--237, and Tess Russell is 4th at 79-76-88--243.

Nova Southeastern has all but assured themselves of their second straight national title.  The Sharks' scores of 29, 285, and 296 are not only the three best rounds of the tournament, but they are the only three scores under 300 by any team.  NSU holds a 35-stroke lead on second place heading into championship Saturday.
