BOX SCORE
ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Cal State L.A. got out to a big early lead and hardly looked back on Thursday night in a 71-60 defeat of Sonoma State at The Wolves' Den in Rohnert Park.  Freshman Bronte Sheahan had a big night with 16 points, but it wasn't enough as the Seawolves dropped their third straight home contest to fall to 8-13, 6-11 CCAA.  The Golden Eagles improve to 14-7, 12-5 CCAA.

The Golden Eagles came out sky high, scoring seven points in the first 1:08 on their way to a quick 16-3 lead.  The margin would grow to as many as 15 on three occasions in a first half that would end with Cal State L.A. up 37-22.

The second half would start out no kinder for the Seawolves as the Golden Eagles built the lead up to 23 (49-26) with 14:32 left.  With their backs against the wall and things in danger of getting out of hand, the Seawolves began to chip away at the lead.  Over the next ten minutes, Sonoma State outscored Cal State L.A. 25-11 to cut the lead to single digits, 60-51 with 4:32 left.  Unfortunately, that's as close as they'd get as the Golden Eagles hit nine of their ten free throws down the stretch, to hold on for an eleven-point win.

Sheahan's career-high 16 points came on 6-of-11 shooting from the field.  She also had three rebounds and two blocked shots.  Sonoma also got 16 points from leading scorer Jaclyn BisordiDesirae Sanchez hit three three-pointers for nine points.

Sonoma State shot 39.6% for the game and 29.2% (7-for-24) from long distance.  They tunred the ball over 13 times and were outrebounded, 35-29.

Cal State L.A.'s leading scorer was Jazzi Johnson, who was 7-of-8 from the field on her way to 21 points.  Tessondra Williams had 15 points in a supporting role.

The Golden Eagles shot 48.1% for the game and an even 50% in the second half.  They were 7-of-20 from behind the arc and 14-for-20 (70.0%) from the charity stripe.

The Seawolves will try to reverse their fortunes on Saturday when they host Cal State Dominguez Hills.  Sonoma State will be holding its first "Pink Zone" game, as show their support for breast cancer awareness.  They encourage all fans to wear pink to the game.
