BOX SCORE

ROHNERT PARK, Calif.-  Sonoma State limited Cal State Dominguez Hills to just 26% shooting on their way to a 55-46 defeat of the Toros in CCAA women's hoops action on Saturday night at The Wolves' Den in Rohnert Park.  Marie Sweet scored a team-high 11 points, but it was the defense that led the way as the Seawolves snapped a three-game losing skid and kept pace in a tightly packed race for a CCAA Tournament berth.  The Seawolves go to 9-13, 7-11 CCAA with the win while the Toros stumble to 3-22, 2-16 CCAA.

At 7-11 in conference play, the Seawolves are tied for eighth place with Cal State San Bernardino, a half game behind Cal State East Bay.  The top eight teams at the end of the regular season will advance to the CCAA Championship Tournament.

Sonoma State would not trail on Saturday night, though the game's result was not decided until the Seawolves pulled away midway through the second half.  After the Seawolves jumped ahead in the game's first few minutes, the Toros battled back to tie it at 17 with 3:10 left.  From there, the Seawolves would go on a 7-0 run to take a 24-17 lead at the break.

Cal State Dominguez Hills would get to within two points with just under 13 minutes to go in the second half, but again their run was met with a surge by Sonoma State that quickly pushed the margin back to eight.  They'd eventually build up a ten point lead with six and a half minutes to go, and the difference would stay there until the end.

Marie Sweet paced Sonoma State with 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting.  She also had eight rebounds and two blocks.  Alysa Ito had eight points and five assists and Aly Conway worked her way to seven points and eight boards.

The Seawolves would shoot just 30.8% for the game, though they did better than their season average from the line, connecting on 21-of-30 free throws (70.0%).

Cal State Dominguez Hills got 12 points from Porcha Davis and a game-high 13 rebounds from Sherrie Hughes.  They struggled from all spots on the floor, shooting 16-for-60 (26.7%) from the field, 2-for-9 (22.2%) from three-point territory, and 12-for-21 (57.1%) from the charity stripe.

The game was played before a season-high crowd of 878, as Sonoma State did their part to raise awareness for breast cancer with their first "Pink Zone" game.

Sonoma State returns to action next week when they head out on their final regular season road trip of the season, to Cal Poly Pomona and San Francisco State.  They return home a week later to host Cal State San Bernardino (Feb. 22nd) and UC San Diego (Feb. 24th).
