BOX SCORE #25 Cal Poly Pomona 58, Sonoma State 47 -- Box Score

ROHNERT PARK --
The Sonoma State men's basketball team led for more than half of the game, but visiting Cal Poly Pomona opened up the second half on a 19-3 run, erasing a five-point halftime deficit to roll past the host Seawolves, 58-47, on Friday night at The Wolves' Den in Rohnert Park.  Sonoma drops to 5-16 overall and 4-13 in the CCAA while the Broncos, who are ranked 25th in the nation, improve to 17-4 (15-2 CCAA).

The Seawolves led for all but 59 seconds in the first half, building its largest lead of seven points, 18-11, with 9:32 remaining in the first half, but the Broncos continued to chip away and got to within one point on several occasions.  With Sonoma leading by five at the intermission (27-22), both teams traded scoring possessions, but after a Mike Harris jumper to put SSU up 29-26 with 17:46 to play, CPP went on a 15-1 run to essentially put the game out of reach.  In fact, the Bronco defense held the Seawolf offense to nine second-half points until the 4:12 mark of the final period.

With Cal Poly Pomona's defense holding strong, the offense torched the nets all night, hitting 23 of 40 shots (57.5 percent), including 11 of 16 from DeRonn Scott, who led all players with 22 points.  In the second half alone, CPP went 14 for 20 from the hardwood, a blaing 70.0 percent clip.  Jordan Faison also scored in double-figures for the nationally-ranked Broncos, adding 13.

Harris led the Seawolves with 13 points while Steve Lackey dropped in 10 points.  As a team, SSU shot 41.9 percent on 18 of 43 from the floor.

Sonoma State returns to The Wolves' Den hardwood Saturday night to face Humboldt State at 7:30 pm.
