The only Sonoma State baseball player to reach the major leagues, Marshall had stints with the New York Yankees in 1980 and 1981 and with the Oakland A's in 1983. A dominating player in the minor leagues, Marshall was voted the Topps Minor League Player of the Year while at Triple-A Columbus (Yankees) in '80 and was voted the Most Valuable Player of the International League. A member of the Columbus-AAA Hall of Fame, Marshall is the only player in Columbus history to have his number retired.
