Seawolves Fall To No. 11 UCSD In Season Finale

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  The 11th-ranked UC San Diego Tritons rolled to a 3-0 sweep of Sonoma State in the CCAA volleyball finale on Saturday evening at Seawolf Gym in Rohnert Park.  The Tritons, who improve to 23-2, 18-2 CCAA will play in the NCAA Regionals next weekend.  The Seawolves end their season at 10-14, 7-13 CCAA.

The Seawolves hung tough in the first game, falling 30-27.  SSU fell behind early in game two when UCSD hit them with an 11-1 run.  Game three was more the same as a 10-2 run midway through put the game away.

Brianna Koche led the Tritons with 12 kills and a .467 hitting percentage.  Rebecca Bailey pitched in with 11 kills and Kristin Halvorsen was solid all night at setter, posting 38 assists.  Nicole Courtney had a game-high 17 digs and eight kills as well.

Lindsay Webb had a team-high ten kills and Lillian Harms posted 18 digs for Sonoma State.

The Tritons hit .264 for the night and an astounding .593 in game two.  The Seawolves finished at .095, though they did outblock UCSD 7-6.
