Seawolves Can't Hold Lead Against Humboldt St.

J.T. Tipton moved to within two rebounds of the all-time school record

ARCATA, Calif-  The pre-season conference favorite Humboldt State men's basketball team came back from a halftime deficit to beat Sonoma State 90-78 on Saturday night in Arcata.  The win pushes HSU's record to 7-2, 2-2 CCAA while the Seawolves drop to 1-7, 0-4 CCAA.

J.T. Tipton led the Seawolves with 16 points and nine rebounds.  His final rebound of the night moved him to within two rebounds of SSU's all-time leader, Creedence Perkins.  Tipton now has 765 career rebounds. 

Sonoma State got out to a 43-40 halftime lead over the powerful Lumberjacks, but fell behind in the second half behind the play of HSU's Devin Peal and Kevin Johnson.  Peal finished the night with 23 points and Johnson went for 14 points and ten rebounds.

SSU was aided by 14 points from Andrew Kochevar and 11 from Jeff Fuller, in his first start of the year.

Sonoma State returns to action on Thursday night when they host Cal State Dominguez Hills in Rohnert Park.
