ROHNERT PARK, Calif - Khyra Buchanan scored her second goal in as many games, but the Sonoma State women's soccer team fell to Cal State L.A. on Sunday afternoon by a 2-1 score. The loss leaves the Seawolves at 3-3-0, 1-1-0 CCAA. The Golden Eagles are off to a fine start at 4-1-0, 2-0-0 CCAA.
Buchanan, who scored Sonoma State's only goal in a 1-0 victory Friday, buried her Sunday strike in the 22nd minute off a free kick by Brooke Peterson, giving the Seawolves an early 1-0 lead. It was Peterson's team-high fourth assist of the season.
The lead wouldn't hold, however, as CSULA scored two goals in five minutes to close out the first half. Christine Duff scored the first on a header from Erica Prado. Kastidi Robles found net the second time on a breakaway.
Sonoma State held a 14-13 advantage in shots and was up 7-3 on corner kicks.
The Seawolves are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Arcata to take on Humboldt State.
