Kevin Cornwell had 18 points and 12 rebounds on Thursday night
ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Kevin Cornwell led five Seawolves in double figures with 18 points as Sonoma State defeated Cal State Monterey Bay 105-93 in CCAA men's basketball play Thursday night in Rohnert Park.  Cornwell also added 12 rebounds for his first career double-double as the Seawolves win their third straight, improving to 4-7, 3-4 CCAA.  The Otters drop to 5-6, 2-4 CCAA.

Sonoma State jetted to an early 17-4 lead in the first six minutes of the game before heading into the half with a 36-42 advantage.  The Seawolf edge expanded to 27 in the second half (74-47 with 9:33 left) before Cal State Monterey Bay found their shooting stroke and made a game of it.  Eight Otter three-pointers in the final seven minutes cut the lead all the way down to six with nine seconds remaining, but solid free throw shooting iced it for SSU.

Cornwell's 18 points came off 8-of-14 shooting.  He also blocked two shots and dished out three assists.  Also in double figures for Sonoma State were J.T. TIpton (16), Ben Washington (13), Barry Weiss (13), and Andrew Kochevar (10).

Sonoma State shot 20-of-23 from the free throw line, with all their attempts coming in the second half.  They also shot a season-high 62.9% for the game (68% in the second half).

Cal State Monterey Bay got 19 from Augie Johnston and 18 off the bench from Aeshraff Dabbas.  After scoring just 32 points in the first half, the Otters lit up the scoreboard for 61 in half number two, outscoing the Seawolves by a bucket.

The Seawolves continue their homestand on Saturday when they host San Francisco State.
