BAKERSFIELD, Calif- The Sonoma State women's basketball team could not recover from a slow start on Thursday night in a 66-56 loss to Cal State Bakersfield. The loss snaps a two-game winning streak for the Seawolves as they drop to 5-8, 4-5 CCAA. The 'Runners improve to 9-6, 6-2 CCAA.
The Seawolves shot just 19% (6-for-31) in the first half and committed 14 turnovers to enter the break down 28-21. CSUB freshman Florida Siaosi nearly had her first career double-double in the first half, finishing the period with nine points and 12 rebounds.
Siaosi's play spurred a CSUB run in the second half that expanded the lead to 35-23 in the first three minutes. The lead would get as big as 21 points before SSU made a late run to slice it to the final margin of ten.
Renee Riberdy had a fine performance off the bench, finishing with a team-high eight rebounds to go with nine points.
Genny Anderson also had nine points for SSU.
Siaosi finished the night with 17 points and 17 rebounds.
The Seawolves will play at Cal State L.A. on Saturday night.
