Women's Soccer Ties Cal State Stanislaus, 0-0

Senior Tiffany Chappell had two shots on goal in Friday's scoreless tie
TURLOCK, Calif-  Sonoma State and Cal State Stanislaus played to a scoreless tie on Friday afternoon in CCAA women's soccer action in Turlock.  Neither team could find the net on a cool and wet day at Warrior Soccer Field as the Seawolves go to 6-6-2, 2-6-2 CCAA.  The Warriors, in a tie for first in the CCAA North, go to 8-6-2, 6-2-2 CCAA.

Thirteen of Sonoma State's first fourteen games of the year have ended in a shutout.  SSU has shut out six of their opponents, they've been shut out five times and played in two scoreless ties.

The Seawolves out shot the Warriors 8-1 in a promising, yet frustrating first half.  Two of SSU's shots were on goal, only to be turned away by Warrior goalkeeper Jessica Sitarz.

Play was much more even in the second half as the Warriors held a slight 8-6 shot advantage.  The teams were even, 5-5, in shots during the overtime periods.

Tiffany Chappell came off the bench to lead the Seawolves with four shot attempts.

Courtney Grixti needed to make just two saves to earn her eighth shutout of the season.  She moves into a tie with Kim Abbott (1988) for sixth-place on the all-time single-season shutout list.  The duo share the freshman shutout record.

The Seawolves will play at rival Chico State on Sunday afternoon in Chico.
