Seawolves Sweep Toros On Saturday

Kaylee Aizenstadt hit .647 in Saturday's win
CARSON, Calif-  Kristy Sather and Kaylee Aizenstadt each had 11 kills and SSU hit .340 as a team in a 3-0 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday in Carson.  The win leaves the Seawolves at 9-12, 5-7 CCAA while the Toros drop to 2-22, 1-12 CCAA.

Sonoma State started quickly and never looked back in game one, jumping out to a 10-5 lead on a kill by Kaylee Aizenstadt, and then extending its lead to double digits at 26-16 on a Marianne Fox service ace.  SSU would win game one, 30-22.

Game two started off competitive with ties at 1-1, 8-8, 10-10 before the Toros took their first lead of the day at 11-10 on a kill by Lauren Wells. A Sarah Hillier kill re-knotted the game on the next play, after which Lindsay Brown stepped back and serviced nine-straight points, with four coming via kills from Kristy Sather, to give SSU a 20-11 lead.  The teams traded sideouts over the next few plays until Marianne Fox serviced the last five points of the game to put the Seawolves up two heading into intermission.

Things did not get any better for CSUDH in game three as SSU continued to capitalize on long serving runs by multiple players to quickly dispatch of the Toros and take the match.  The Seawolves were led by Aizenstadt's .647 hitting percentage and 11 kills, with no attacking errors on the day.  Sather was also in double-figures with 11 kills, while Lillian Harms and Taylor Manton did the job in the back row, picking up 13 and 11 digs, respectively.

The Seawolves will return home on Wednesday to face Notre Dame de Namur.
