Seawolves Survive, Edge Lumberjacks In Five

Kristy Sather had 21 kills to lead the Seawolves on Friday
ARCATA, Calif-  The Sonoma State volleyball team picked up their sixth win in their last seven matches with an exciting 3-2 win over Humboldt State on Friday evening in Arcata.  The Lumberjacks served for match point on two occasions, but were unable to put away the Seawolves.  SSU goes to 11-12 overall and pulls back to .500 in CCAA play at 7-7.  The 'Jacks fall to 8-14, 4-10 CCAA.

It was the second straight match for SSU in which they fell behind two games to none yet came back to win.  The Seawolves pulled the feat on Wednesday at home against Cal State Monterey Bay.

HSU won the first two games by scores of 30-28 and 30-24 before the Seawolves got going.  SSU squeaked out a 30-28 win in game three, then dominated in a 30-21 win in game four to set up a fifth and deciding frame.

The 'Jacks led for much of the fifth game and were serving game point at 14-13 before a service error tied things up.  HSU scored the next point and had another match point at 15-14, but a hitting error brought the Seawolves even once again.

After that, the Seawolves got kills from Sarah Hillier and Kristy Sather to put the match away.

Sather led the Seawolves on the night with 21 kills.  Kaylee Aizenstadt continued her solid hitting with 17 kills and a team-high .293 hitting percentage.  Lindsay Brown was tops with 48 assists and Taylor Manton added to her all-time school record with 23 more digs.

Lynsey Adams had a team-high 14 kills for the 'Jacks.

The Seawolves will host Chico State and Cal State Stanislaus next weekend in their final home matches of the season.
