Seawolves Beat HSU On Last Minute Goal

Jaci Davey saved SSU from a save with a last minute goal on Sunday
ARCATA, Calif-  Freshman Jaci Davey scored with under a minute remaining in double overtime to give Sonoma State a 1-0 win over Humboldt State in their season finale on Sunday in Arcata.  The Seawolves will end the season with a 10-7-2, 5-7-2 CCAA record.  The 'Jacks end the year at 4-13-3, 2-11-1 CCAA.

Though the Seawolves dominated play for much of Sunday, as evidenced by a 29-14 shot advantage, they came up empty through regulation and the first overtime period.  SSU continued to pressure in the second overtime, attempting four shots before their final effort, by Davey, found the back of the net with just 48 seconds left on the clock. Tiffany Chappell was credited with an assist on the play.  It was the second goal of the season for Davey.

As they have for most of the season, the SSU defense played extremely well, recording their 12th shutout of the year.  It was also the tenth shutout by Sonoma State in 14 CCAA games.

Courtney Grixti made seven saves on her way to her 11th shutout of the year.  The freshman from San Ramon closes out her first year with the third-most shutouts in school history.
