Kristy Sather goes up high for one of her three blocks on Saturday
ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  For the second night in a row, a nationally-ranked team came in to Seawolf Gym.....and for the second night in a row that team went home with a loss.  On Saturday night, Sonoma State defeated No. 21 UC San Diego in four games, 30-20, 26-30, 30-26, 30-24. The win came on the heels of a 3-1 victory over No. 16 Cal State L.A. on Friday as the Seawolves improve to 7-11, 3-6 CCAA.  The Tritons fall to 11-6, 5-4 CCAA.

With the win, the Seawolves improve to 6-3 at home this season.

The Seawolves used several well-timed scoring spurts, like a 10-0 run in game three and a late 5-0 run in game four, to defeat the Tritons for the first time since October 2005.

Just like in Friday's win over CSULA, the Seawolves again played well at the net, out blocking the Tritons 12.0 to 3.0.  The Seawolves also out hit the Tritons .157 to .135 and forced 39 UCSD hitting errors.

Kristy Sather led the Seawolves with 13 kills and Rikki Buckshnis hit a team-high .304 with nine kills to just two errors.  Taylor Manton posted 28 digs and Lindsay Brown was solid all night with 33 assists.

UCSD got 19 kills from Rebecca Bailey and 15 more from Sylvia Schmidt.  Natalie Facchini led all players with 33 digs and Elaine Chen and Kim Adams split time at setter, finishing with a combined 57 digs.

As if back-to-back games against Top 25 opponents wasn't enough, the Seawolves will host the No. 2 team in the nation next Friday, Cal State San Bernardino.
