Seawolves Tripped Up By No. 4 Tritons, 1-0

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Sonoma State put up a solid effort, but ended up on the losing side of a 1-0 decision to No. 4 UC San Diego on Sunday in CCAA women's soccer action.  The Tritons stay unbeaten this year at 10-0-1, 7-0-1 CCAA.  The Seawolves drop their third straight and leave the field with a record of 6-6-1, 2-6-1 CCAA.

SSU was out shot 10-4 in the first half, but got some good looks and actually out shot UCSD 5-4 in the second.  Brittany Peterson and Tracy Webster each had two shot attempts to lead SSU.

The Tritons got the game's only goal in the 27th minute when Chelsey Campbell gathered the ball and blasted it from deep in the midfield.  The goal glanced off SSU 'keeper Courtney Grixti and reached the net. 

UCSD held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks and SSU committed three more fouls, 12-9. 

Grixti made five saves in goal while her counterpart, Jessica McGovern of UCSD, made two on her way to her seventh shutout of the season.

Sonoma State will look to right the ship next Friday when they travel to Cal State Stanislaus.
