Men's Basketball Goes To 3-0 With Win Over Toros

Gerred Link hit a career-high four three-pointers on Friday night
CARSON, Calif-  Andrew Kochevar went for 24 points on Friday night as Sonoma State stayed perfect with a 65-56 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills at the Torodome in Carson.  The Seawolves stand at 3-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.  The Toros drop to 2-1, 1-0 CCAA.

Kochevar, who averaged 27 points per game during the opening weekend of the season, continued his hot shooting, connecting on 9-of-13 from the field and sinking five three-pointers. 

The Seawolves had to overcome a 34-31 halftime deficit on Saturday to earn the win.  They did it with some hot shooting by Kochevar and an impressive defensive performance.  The Toros were held without a bucket for six minutes as SSU outscored them 34-22 in the half.

Kochevar's five three-pointers were nearly matched by Gerred Link, who drained four on his way to a career-high 14 points.  Freshman Blake Saunders came off the bench for eight points and a career-high 11 rebounds.  Steve Cornett also set a career-high with eight rebounds. 

Jamel Ward paced the Toros with 15 points.  JerrelL Smith, who entered the game as their leading scorer, was limited to three points, though he did have seven rebounds.

Sonoma State will try to keep their winning streak alive on Saturday when they head over to Cal State L.A.
