Slow Start Dooms Seawolves In Loss To Cal St. L.A.

Steve Cornett came off the bench for ten points and six boards
LOS ANGELES, Calif-  Sonoma State dug themselves a hole they couldn't get out of on Saturday night, resulting in their first loss of the season, 81-72 to Cal State L.A. at the Eagles Nest in Los Angeles.  The Seawolves drop to 3-1, 1-1 CCAA.  The Golden Eagles are also 3-1, 1-1 CCAA.

Sonoma State fell behind by a 27-8 before they got the act together late in the first half, pulling to within 12.  A Vincent Camper three-pointer right before the end of the half made it 41-26 Golden Eagles.

SSU would go on to outscore CSULA 46-40 in the second half, but it would be a case or too little, too late.

Andrew Kochevar led the Seawolves in scoring for the fourth straight game, with 19 points.  Ben Washington had 15 and Steve Cornett went for ten points.  Doni Noble had his finest game in an SSU uniform with nine points, six rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 23 minutes of action.

Dejon Prejean led the Golden Eagles with 23 points.  Christofer Hart neared a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

The Seawolves will return to action next weekend when they host the Seventh Annual Ron Logsdon Basketball Classic.
