Seawolves Can't Keep Pace With No. 11 Coyotes

Patrick Mitchell had a team-high 13 points on Thursday night

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Cal State San Bernardino blew open a close game in the final eight minutes to take a 74-52 win over Sonoma State in CCAA men's basketball action on Thursday night.  The loss drops the Seawolves to 8-9, 7-6 CCAA while the Coyotes, ranked 11th in the nation and 1st in the region, improve to 14-3, 10-2 CCAA.

The Seawolves hung with CSUSB for as long as they could, leading for the last time at 40-39 with 14:02 left.  The Coyotes stretched it to 47-44 before they went on a 27-8 run to end the game up 22. 

Ivan Johnson had his way with SSU in the first half, scoring 17 of his game-high 22 points.  Chet Johnson had ten points and a team-high five rebounds off the bench for CSUSB.

The Sewolves got 13 points and seven assists from Patrick Mitchell.  Andre Kochever nailed three three-pointers to finish with 11 points and Kyle Shandera shared team-high rebounding honors with J.T. Tipton (4 apiece).

Sonoma State will host the region's second-ranked team on Saturday night in Cal Poly Pomona.
