Seawolves Complete Season Sweep Of Gators

J.T. Tipton had 18 points to lead SSU on Thursday night
ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Senior J.T. Tipton had 18 points and eight rebounds as Sonoma State beat San Francisco State 61-56 on Thursday night in San Francisco.  The win completes a season sweep of the Gators for the Seawolves, who to go 10-11, 9-8 CCAA.  SF State falls to 6-16, 2-15 CCAA.

With his 18 points, J.T. Tipton is now just 39 points behind Creedence Perkins in his quest to become SSU's all-time leading scorer.

Staked to an early lead, the Seawolves went up by a 15-6 score just four minutes into the game.  The Gators quickly responded, using a 17-7 run of their own to take their first lead of the game late in the first half.  The first half ended with the score tied at 27.

SF State led by a couple points for the first part of the second half before SSU showed some life and inserted a 13-3 run to go up 50-43 with seven minutes left.  The Gators clawed back to tie it once again at 54-54 with 2:25 left on an Arcenio Ramirez layup, but it would be all SSU down the stretch.  The Seawolves scored seven of the final nine points to head back to the North Bay with a five-point win.

J.T. Tipton supplied the bulk of SSU's offense, finishing the night with 18 points in addition to his eight rebounds.  Barry Weiss posted ten points and Patrick Mitchell dished out seven assists.

SF State was led by a game-high 22 points from Ramirez and ten from Will Logan.

The Seawolves will play at Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday night.
