MORAGA, Calif- The Sonoma State softball team suffered a doubleheader sweep at the hands of NCAA Division I Saint Mary's on Thursday afternoon in Moraga. The Gaels took game one 7-3 before finishing off the sweep with a 4-2 win in game two. The losses drop the Seawolves to 4-6 on the season. Saint Mary's improves to 2-0.
The Gaels exploded for five runs in the first inning of game one after hitting two doubles, a triple, and a home run. After SMC tacked on another run in the third, the Seawolves found paydirt with a three-run fourth inning. Rachelle Boone and Alex Winters each had RBI singles to cut the lead in half and make it 6-3. Saint Mary's scored one more run in the bottom of the sixth for the 7-3 win.

The Seawolves fell behind in game two after the Gaels scored once in the first and three more times in the third. That would be all the offense Kate Albaugh needed as she limited the Seawolves to just four hits. SSU picked up their two runs in the sixth when
Shyrle Hawes and Boone delivered back-to-back RBI doubles.
Simone Brandalise got the loss after allowing four runs in six innings.
