Water Polo Beats Cal Lutheran In Thriller

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Sonoma State completed day one of the Roadrunner Invitational in exciting fashion, topping Cal Lutheran 8-7 at the John S. Hillman Aquatics Center on Saturday.

A Seawolf goal by Samantha Burchard with 1:50 to go in the game turned out to be the difference in this tight affair. Cal Lutheran scored the first two goals of the game and led by two into the second quarter, but the scoreboard was leveled with 25 seconds to go in the first half. Sonoma State stole a lead with one second left in the half at 7-6 when Jenna Bole scored.

The two teams each scored just one goal in the second half, and Burchard's goal was the difference. Jessica Scott of Sonoma State led all scorers with four goals.
