McEwen Nets Golden Goal To Beat CSU East Bay

Roxanna McEwen's goal in sudden death gave SSU a win over CSUEB

BAKERSFIELD, Calif — Sonoma State continued to be clearly the most dramatic team in the 2007 Roadrunner Invitational as the Seawolves opened day two of the tournament with a 10-9 win over Cal State East Bay in sudden death at the John S. Hillman Aquatics Center on Sunday.

Cal State East Bay led virtually the entire match and was winning 9-7 with 2:39 remaining in the match, but Sonoma State scored twice in the final 2:24 to cap a five-goal fourth quarter to send the game into overtime. Roxanna McEwen scored her second goal of the game in the sudden death period to win it for the Seawolves.

Jessica Scott led Sonoma State with three goals on the day, while four players scored twice for Cal State East Bay.
