Seawolves Roll To 61-42 Win Over Cal State L.A.

Danae Wellander pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds on Thursday night

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Genny Anderson poured in 17 points and Danae Wellander grabbed 14 rebounds as Sonoma State rolled to a 61-42 win over Cal State L.A. in CCAA women's basketball action in Rohnert Park.  The win boosts the Seawolves' postseason aspirations as they improve to 13-10, 12-7 CCAA.  The Golden Eagles drop to 3-21, 1-17 CCAA.

It was the fourth consecutive win for the Seawolves and their seventh victory in their last eight games.  Thursday also marked the third consecutive home game that SSU has held an opponent under 43 points.

The teams stayed close for much of the first half before SSU closed on a 20-6 run to go up 38-20 at the break.  The Seawolves pushed the lead to as many as 24 in the second half before the Golden Eagles got it down to the 19-point final margin.

Anderson picked up her 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting.  Wellander pulled down 14 rebounds and had five assists in addition to her eight points.

Cal State L.A., playing with just seven players, got 12 points from Fatimah Stokley and ten from Amber Whittington.

The Seawolves will host Cal State Bakersfield in their home finale on Saturday night at Seawolf Gym.
