SSU Falls To Another Ranked Opponent

TURLOCK, Calif. - For the third time in two days the Sonoma State softball team fell to a nationally ranked opponent. This time it was a 3-2 loss to No. 4 Humboldt State.

Junior pitcher Lindsay Emmel made her second start of the year against a ranked opponent. She went seven innings allowing seven hits, three runs and four strikeouts. After allowing runs in three in the first four innings she shut the Lumberjacks down for the rest of the game. Sonoma State fell to 1-3 on the year.

Three freshmen, Brianna Jayne, Ashley Eisemann and Claire Hiney, each recorded hits for the Seawolves.

The Seawolves rallied in the bottom of the sixth ininng to score two runs and cut the lead to 3-2, but it wasn't enough as they were denied in the seventh inning.

The Seawolves are back in action tomorrow at 10:00 am against Cal State Monterey Bay and at 2:30 pm against Notre Dame de Namur in Turlock at the Best of the West Tournament.
