Seawolves Roll Past Warriors, 77-62

Freshman Kyle Shandera had a career-high 11 points for SSU
TURLOCK, Calif-  The Sonoma State men continued their strong play down the stretch with a 77-62 win over Cal State Stanislaus in CCAA basketball action Thursday night in Turlock.  The win avenges a loss to the Warriors earlier in the year as the Seawolves win for the 13th time in their last 17 games and improve to 14-11, 13-8 CCAA.

All-time scoring leader J.T. Tipton continued his strong play with a 24 point performance to lead four Seawolves in double figures.  Jeff Fuller had 11 as did Kyle Shandera in a career-high performance.  Andrew Kochevar had ten, including two three-pointers which move him to within one trey of tying Ryan Hensel's career record.  SSU also got seven assists from Patrick Mitchell.

Despite being out-rebounded by a 37-24 margin, the Seawolves used better shooting and ball handling to stick the Warriors with their fifth loss in the last seven games.  SSU also outshot the Warriors 53% to 40%.

SSU never trailed, though Stanislaus was able to keep the game close for the first few minutes.  After the score was tied at 14, the Seawolves used a 15-1 run to put some distance between the teams.  CSUS would never really threaten again.

The Seawolves will close out the regular season on Saturday at rival Chico State.
