Men's Tennis Topped By No. 14 UC San Diego

LA JOLLA, Calif-  The 14th ranked UC San Diego Tritons made quick work of the Seawolves on Sunday afternoon with an 8-1 win at the Northview Tennis Courts on the UCSD campus.  The win pushes the Tritons' record to 9-3 on the season while SSU drops to 2-5.

The Tritons held a 3-0 win after doubles play, but SSU did give them a battle.  Particularly close was the No. 3 doubles match where Bijan Moallemi (UCSD's No. 1 singles player on Sunday) and Kazumi Negishi beat Connor Olson and Brandon Buskirk, 8-6.

In singles, SSU got their lone point at No. 6 where #Chris Kibcka earned his frist win of the season this season after Rames Thondapu was forced to retire due to injury.  The match was tied at 4-4 prior to Thondapu's retirement.  Jeff Stollberg also had a good match at No. 3 singles before he lost by the score of 2-6, 6-3, 10-5.

Next up for the Seawolves is a home match against Trinity College of Connecticut on Wednesday.
