PATTERSON, Calif- The Sonoma State men's golf team finished third in a field of primarily NCAA Division I schools at the 2007 Diablo Grande Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon in Patterson. The eighth-ranked Seawolves were led by top ten finishes from
Jarin Todd and
Kyle Hopkins.
Todd, the top ranked Division II golfer in the nation, finished fourth overall after shooting 73-74-73--220. Three strokes behind him was All-American
Kyle Hopkins, in ninth at 72-76-75--223. Scores were noticeably higher than usual because of windy conditions at the course.
Chris Galvin was just four strokes behind Hopkins at 74-76-77--227 while
Patrick Sklarski and
Spencer Shishido rounded out the Seawolf squad.
Sacramento State won the team competition with Cal State Bakersfield in second. SSU was third ahead of rival Chico State and such Division I schools as Drake, Missouri State, Birmingham Southern, and Bradley.
Up next for SSU is the Buzzini/Stanislaus Invitational in mid-April.
