Women's Tennis Rallies Past Cal Poly Pomona, 5-4

Casey O'Connor had two wins for Sonoma State on Friday
POMONA, Calif-  The Sonoma State women's tennis team defeated Cal Poly Pomona 5-4 on Friday afternoon in CCAA action in Pomona.  The win lifts SSU's record to 4-8 overall, 2-4 in the CCAA.  The Broncos drop to 5-10, 3-3 CCAA.

Cal Poly Pomona took two of the three doubles matches.  Despite trailing in all three at one point, the Broncos staged comebacks at No. 1 and No. 2 to emerge from doubles up 2-1. 

Singles was a different story as SSU won four of the six matches.  CPP got a win at No. 1 and No. 3, but the Seawolves dominated at the bottom of the order, taking No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6.  Raquel Gottfried was also a winner at No. 2 singles.

The Seawolves will play at Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday, in their final road match of the 2007 season.

6.      Casey O'Conner (SSU) def. Kelley Wong (CPP), 6-1, 6-2

Doubles

1.      Tsai/Paquillo (CPP) def. Luk/Robertson (SSU), 8-6

2.      Fisher/Brady (CPP) def. Gottfried/Webb (SSU), 9-8 (7-5)

3.      Belsher/O'Conner (SSU) def. Lin/Ellyn Caprara (CPP), 8-5
