Seawolves Escape With 10-9 Victory

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Sonoma State women's water polo team held off a late rally from the Whittier Poets to escape with a 10-9 win Sunday morning at the Slug Fest hosted by UC Santa Cruz.

Sonoma State (9-7 overall, 2-5 CCAA) led 7-2 at halftime and 9-4 after the third period, but Whittier gave the Seawovlves a scare in the fourth period, scoring five goals and coming within a goal of forcing sudden death.

Nine Seawolves scored in the contest and Jessica Scott again led the offense, this time with two goals in the game.

Sonoma State is back in action this afternoon when it faces WWPA rival Colorado State in the finale of the Slug Fest.
